Each of the eight prints in each booklet is a reproduction of a sheet of newsprint that I used to protect my work surface while producing other projects. As I work, I replace each used sheet of paper with a fresh one as they become stained with unintentional marks. Responding to their active beauty I appreciated them on their own merits. As the sheets accumulated I began to envision them in book form.
Each sheet of newsprint is digitally reproduced (scanned and printed) on double sided 11”x 17” inkjet prints. As they were created quite randomly, I felt that their display and order should also be random. I chose to fold eight prints into each small booklet allowing each spread to be created by chance. I do not bind the book to allow the reader the ability to dismantle and reconstruct as they please. The random order and rearranging of pages allows for an unfolding of a sort of concrete visual poetry. While they are descendants of my main project, I feel they are uniquely their own.
